Newsletter
Kedaton - 5/02/2012
In the absence of our Pres on what he assures all and sundry is a well deserved leave, I am sending this week’s newsletter on his behalf, cheers, Keith
Dear All,
The rainy season has played havoc with course selection these last few weeks but when the word came in from reliable sources that the Kedaton course was dry, the decision was made to head out to this lovely course located off the Merak Jalan Tol
Kedaton in theory is easy to get to since its toll road almost all the way but the final hurdle is getting into the correct lane to get off the toll. A dedicated toll booth for the Kedaton exit means if you are in the wrong lane when exiting the toll you have a serious problem. Three golfers found this out the hard way and subsequently were late starters. Precisely why I warn people in the newsletter of such traps. Well the course wasn’t as dry as hoped but there was very little rain so that was a major plus. Carts available for those wanting to carry more beer but walking was also an option on this course.
Soft greens for a change helped those that can hit a green in regulation so low putts this week was a non exceptional 29 from Ian Barr. Cate McCosker had a tough time with the flat stick and her 45 was the monster putter of the day although her navigation skills at finding the course were better then Ian’s. A pity there are no awards for good navigation. Low gross with 87 was Richard Newcombe and low nett was Troy Stephenson with 74. Graham McGeady’s 2.95m from the pin won nearest to the pin. Longest drive as recorded on the score sheet was Rob Chugg with a drive of 3010 yards. Uumm! The ball must have landed in the marshal's cart while on it's way back to the clubhouse.
Most strokes and some skirts helped top up Liza’s end of season trip to Bali. 11 strokes on a hole recorded against Robin and Priti Martin, and James Ross. The red tees must have given the ladies a huge advantage on this course judging by the number of skirts recorded. Mel Meeds, Gary White, Don Craig, Robin Martin and the writer all ended up in pink on the 19th tee. (refer attached) Despite the wet fairways all 31 players enjoyed the round. We welcome new players Priti Martin, Shannon Collier, Cuong Koon, Jan Janda, Marsha Hiew and hope they will all become regulars with Jakarta’s most social golf society.
Welcome back also to so many Tee Setters,

Many thanks to Wina who used her membership to get us a good deal for the day.
Do check out this months JakartaNow which has an article about the Tee Set Championship 2011. The outline of this year’s championship are now out and we attach a flyer regarding this popular event. A pleasing 19 players joined up at Kedaton, so, if you were not one of them and want to join in the fun then drop an e-mail to Keith Miller (CC-ed above) who is organising it this year and he will register, make sure you get all the details nearer the time and, last but not least, make sure you are relieved of Rp. 50,000.
Finally it was only last week that Tee Set and a number of its members attended a charitable event to support medical treatment for a little girl, Memey, in trouble and in dire need of proper medical attention. Approaching RP 200 million was raised and allowed Memey to get the medical attention she so desperately needed. Today we received the news that she had died in RSCM Hospital Menteng. Tragic news and are thoughts are with her family now.
Regards, Ric Wymer
